Abstract

Multilevel inverter is considered as one of the most recent and popular type of advances in power electronics. It synthesizes desired output voltage waveform from several dc sources used as input for the multilevel inverter. As the number of level is increased, the output voltage waveforms obtained is closer to the sinusoidal voltage waveform. Multilevel inverter (MLI) is a new breed of power converter that is suited for medium and high power applications. For a seven level output, the proposed inverter topology comprises of one H-bridge with three power switches and three DC sources which is of equal in nature is simulated using MATLAB. The traditional two or three levels inverter does not completely eliminate the harmonics in the output waveform. Therefore, using the multilevel inverter as an alternative to traditional PWM inverters is used. Therefore, using the multilevel inverter as an alternative to traditional PWM inverters is used. The fundamental frequency switching scheme is used to control the power electronics switches.
