Moringa Oleifera: A Phyto-Nutritional Powerhouse for Integrative Health and Bioactive Innovation

Abstract
Moringa oleifera, called by its believers as "miracle tree" or "divine tree," is a well-known member of Moringaceae due to its excellent nutritional and medicinal properties. All of part of this?plant has therapeutic activity and adds to its importance as an herbal panacea. The wide range of ethnopharmacological properties?of Moringa as mentioned in the scientific literature include, anticancer, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, antifertility, hepatoprotective, and cardioprotective effects. Most of?these biological activities are due to the various phytochemical constituents that the plant possesses, for example, flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, terpenes, glucosides glucosinolates, anthocyanins, and steroids. Apart from its pharmacological importance, M. oleifera possesses high content of various nutrients (vitamins, minerals, proteins, beta-carotene, dietary fiber, essential fats), so it is used in application as an important?source of healthy organic products. This review is an effort?to compile and update all the phytochemistry, therapeutic and nutritional values of M. oleifera so that its potential can be used as nutraceutical and in the treatment of various diseases in addition to other industrial applications. The findings presented in this up-to-date survey should help to develop novel,?efficacious preparations of this multifunctional plant.
