Abstract
Integrating secure authentication across distributed systems has become a critical challenge in today?s interconnected digital landscape. As organizations increasingly adopt cloud services, microservices architectures, and multi-cloud environments, ensuring consistent and secure user authentication across distributed systems is paramount. This paper explores the various strategies and technologies available for achieving secure authentication in distributed environments, focusing on federated identity management, OAuth, OpenID Connect, and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Additionally, the paper discusses the potential vulnerabilities and risks inherent in these systems, such as token interception, session hijacking, and improper implementation of protocols. The importance of selecting scalable, robust authentication solutions that meet both security and performance requirements is emphasized. Through a review of contemporary research and real-world case studies, this paper highlights best practices for implementing secure authentication mechanisms across geographically dispersed infrastructures while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. The integration of secure authentication across distributed systems ensures data protection, mitigates the risk of unauthorized access, and improves overall security posture in a rapidly evolving technological environment.
