Abstract

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has emerged as an important driver of economic development worldwide, particularly within the tourism sector. Defined as an investment made by an entity based in one country into business interests located in another country, FDI encompasses not only the transfer of capital but also the exchange of technology, skills, and managerial expertise (UNCTAD, 2020). As tourism continues to grow as a vital component of the global economy, attracting FDI becomes increasingly important for destinations aiming to improve their infrastructure, increase their competitiveness, and enhance their capacity to attract international visitors (Jiang et al., 2023). The tourism sector is unique in its dependence on foreign investment, given that it often involves the establishment of facilities, such as hotels, resorts, and recreational services, which require substantial capital and expertise (Sohail et al., 2022)
