Abstract

Consumer investment behavior is shaped by various psychological, financial, and demographic influences. This study explores how factors such as income level, financial literacy, risk tolerance, and social environment affect investment decisions among urban Indian consumers. Data was gathered through a structured survey of 300 individuals from diverse backgrounds, using both descriptive and exploratory research approaches. The findings reveal that higher income and financial awareness contribute to more diversified investment patterns, while younger and more risk-tolerant individuals tend to prefer high-risk instruments. Social influence also significantly impacts first-time investors, with peers and family playing a guiding role in shaping initial choices. Gender and age-related differences further emphasize the need for personalized financial planning. This research contributes to the broader understanding of behavioral finance and underscores the need for targeted financial education. The insights gained can assist financial institutions and policy makers in designing inclusive, user-centric investment solutions that foster long-term financial well-being.
