Impact of Banking Practices on Sustainable Performance with Special Reference to Commercial Banks
Abstract
The banking sector plays a crucial role in the economic prosperity of a country like India by optimising the use of national resources through lending, investing, and transferring funds both domestically and internationally. Evidently, there are various concerns such as poverty levels, capital scarcity, limited entrepreneurship, and environmental hazards. Sustainable banking practices are defined by banks' initiatives aimed at promoting financial advancement. Banking practices play an important role in sustainability in commercial banks. It includes transparency, accountability, and ethical behaviour. Commercial banks comply with strong corporate governance requirements, encompassing an effective risk management system, transparent reporting strategies, and adherence to ethical principles and a code of conduct. Sustainable banking practices promote minimizing the environmental impacts of market operations. Sustainable banking includes responsible lending, ethical investing, climate risk management, and the advancement of financial inclusion. The aim of the study is to understand the essential components and importance of sustainability in various commercial banks. The research implies descriptive statistics, including percentages, frequencies, charts, and graphs, for analysis. Researchers conduct an analysis of the hypothesis using a regression analysis. We selected a total of 50 respondents from the study area, employing a questionnaire as an instrument. The study determined that collecting the perspectives of diverse stakeholders is essential for understanding the impact of banking practices on sustainability with special reference to commercial banks.
