Abstract

Bank deposits play a fundamental role in the functioning of the financial system, serving as a primary source of funds for banks and a safe investment option for individuals and institutions. This study aims to examine the nature, types, and trends of bank deposits in both public and private sector banks. It focuses on various categories such as demand deposits (current and savings accounts) and time deposits (fixed and recurring deposits), analyzing their growth over a specific period. The research investigates factors influencing deposit mobilization, including interest rates, inflation, income levels, banking outreach, and digital banking services. Additionally, the study evaluates how government policies, monetary regulations, and technological advancements have impacted depositor behavior and banking operations. Using statistical tools and comparative analysis, the research provides insights into deposit growth patterns, customer preferences, and the role of financial literacy in deposit expansion. The findings suggest that increased trust in banking institutions, financial inclusion initiatives, and competitive interest structures significantly boost deposit volumes. This study is valuable for policymakers, banking professionals, and researchers interested in enhancing deposit mobilization strategies and strengthening the banking system.
