This study examined the “Effect of Scaffolding and Concrete Manipulatives Strategy on Upper Basic II Students’ Achievement in Geometry in Jalingo Education Zone, Taraba State Nigeria”. The study adopted quasi experimental design. The population of the study was 3626 Upper Basic II Students drawn from 52 public schools in Jalingo Education Zone, Taraba state. The sample size for the study was 326 upper basic II students within the zone. The instruments for data collection was Geometry Achievement Test (GAT), which was the researcher made and was made up of 30 items with 5 options multiple choice objective questions lettered A-E one of which as the correct option. All were prepared based on upper basic II mathematics curriculum. The result of the study indicated that there is significant positive difference between upper basic II students achievement in geometry taught using instructional scaffolding and concrete manipulative strategy than that of students taught using conventional method in Jalingo education zone. The findings also showed that there is no significant difference between female and male students taught using instructional scaffolding and concrete manipulative strategy. These indicated that instructional scaffolding strategy combined with concrete manipulative strategy can improve students’ achievement in geometry in Jalingo education zone. The study recommends that concrete manipulative strategy combined with instructional scaffolding strategy be use in all schools in Taraba state and Nigeria at large. The result of the study had contributed to knowledge by providing ways of improving students’ achievement in geometry. It has introduced a new method of teaching and can save as a reference in other new research works.
