Microfinance has emerged as a powerful tool for poverty alleviation and rural development, particularly in empowering women. This study examines the role of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in fostering rural development by enhancing women’s economic and social empowerment. A structured questionnaire was administered to 100 women beneficiaries of microfinance in rural areas, and the responses were analyzed to assess the impact of microfinance on income generation, decision-making power, education, and social mobility. The findings suggest that microfinance significantly contributes to women’s financial independence and empowerment, though challenges such as high-interest rates and financial literacy persist. Based on the analysis, recommendations are provided to improve microfinance policies for greater inclusivity and effectiveness.
