The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the development and application of nanotechnology in biomedical sciences, particularly for rapid diagnostics and effective treatment strategies. This article explores how nanomaterials—such as gold, silver, and lipid-based nanoparticles—have been used to improve biosensing technologies, deliver antiviral drugs, and enhance vaccine platforms, most notably in the mRNA vaccines against SARS-CoV-2. Additionally, the integration of nanotechnology in personal protective equipment and its potential antiviral properties is discussed. While these innovations offer significant benefits, they also raise concerns regarding safety, biocompatibility, and regulation. The findings underscore nanotechnology's essential role in current and future pandemic preparedness.
