The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Enhancing Agricultural Productivity: A Pathway to Sustainable Farming
Subject area: Science,Engineering and Technology · Area of research: Computer Science
Abstract
Agriculture is facing unprecedented challenges due to climate change, population growth, and resource limitations. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative technology that provides innovative solutions for improving agricultural productivity and sustainability. This study reviews existing literature to explore how AI applications such as precision farming, pest and disease detection, crop yield forecasting, weather prediction, and automated irrigation are enhancing farmers? decision-making processes. Findings reveal that AI improves efficiency, reduces costs, and promotes sustainable resource management, although challenges such as high implementation costs and digital illiteracy persist. The paper concludes that AI has the potential to revolutionize farming and recommends strategies for wider adoption.
