Abstract

The construction industry remains one of the most hazardous sectors, with safety incidents often resulting in significant health risks, financial losses, and disruptions to project timelines. Leadership-driven safety culture transformation has emerged as a critical approach to mitigating these risks and fostering a proactive safety environment in large construction workforces. This paper explores the latest advancements in leadership practices and their role in shaping safety culture transformation within the construction sector. By examining empirical studies, industry reports, and case studies, the paper highlights the importance of leadership commitment in influencing worker attitudes, behaviors, and safety outcomes. It further delves into the strategies and tools employed by organizations to embed safety into the organizational culture, focusing on leadership styles such as transformational, participative, and ethical leadership. Additionally, the paper evaluates the impact of safety leadership on organizational performance, including its effect on reducing accidents, enhancing employee engagement, and improving overall project efficiency. The review also considers the role of leadership in promoting continuous improvement, employee empowerment, and the integration of new technologies into safety management practices. Finally, the paper offers recommendations for enhancing leadership-driven safety culture transformation in large construction teams and suggests future research directions to address gaps in current safety leadership practices.
