Abstract

This study examines the role of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in promoting health, education, and gender equality in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 5). Development is not limited to economic growth but includes social justice, equal opportunities, and improved quality of life. Health, education, and gender equality are essential components of sustainable development, as they are interconnected and contribute to overall human well-being. Despite various government initiatives, significant challenges such as poor healthcare access, low educational opportunities, and gender discrimination continue to exist, especially in rural and marginalized communities. The study focuses on understanding how NGOs contribute to addressing these challenges through their programs and interventions. NGOs play a crucial role as they work at the grassroots level and have a closer connection with communities. In the health sector, they organize awareness campaigns, medical camps, and maternal and child health programs. In education, they promote school enrolment, reduce dropout rates, and support skill development and non-formal education. In the area of gender equality, NGOs empower women through awareness, training, and support for equal opportunities. The research aims to analyse the effectiveness of these interventions and identify the challenges faced by NGOs, such as limited resources, lack of trained personnel, and social barriers. It also highlights the importance of community participation and collaboration between NGOs and government agencies in achieving development goals. Overall, the study emphasizes that NGOs act as a bridge between the government and the community by identifying local needs and ensuring that development programs reach the intended beneficiaries. Their integrated approach supports sustainable development by improving health, enhancing education, and promoting gender equality. The findings of the study contribute to a better understanding of the role of NGOs in achieving SDG 3, SDG 4, and SDG 5.
