AI Based Pothole Detection System

Abstract
Road surface defects such as potholes create major challenges for transportation safety and infrastructure maintenance. This project presents a smart pothole detection system using Raspberry Pi, image processing, and IoT technologies for real-time road monitoring. A camera captures road images continuously, and image processing techniques are used to identify potholes accurately. Once detected, the system records the location using GPS and transmits the data through wireless communication for monitoring and maintenance purposes. The proposed system helps reduce manual inspection efforts, improves road safety, and supports efficient smart city infrastructure management.
