Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most influential technologies of the twenty-first century, transforming the way individuals, organizations, and governments perform complex tasks. The rapid development of machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, robotics, and generative AI has enabled intelligent systems to analyze massive datasets, automate decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and support scientific discovery. AI is now widely adopted in healthcare, education, manufacturing, finance, transportation, agriculture, cybersecurity, environmental monitoring, and smart cities. This review examines the evolution of AI, summarizes the current state of research, and discusses the methodologies commonly used in AI review studies. Furthermore, the paper highlights major opportunities and challenges, including ethical concerns, data privacy, explainability, fairness, and regulatory issues. The review is based on published books, peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and technical reports. The findings indicate that AI will continue to play a central role in future technological innovation; however, responsible development and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential to ensure sustainable and trustworthy AI deployment.
