Abstract
Human Resource Management is an essential function in most organizations that deal with matters such as recruitment, attendance tracking, and payroll processing. However, the rise of Information Technology in recent years has made it possible to carry out some of these functions digitally, which has, in turn, facilitated better workforce management and improved performance in most companies. This study assessed the effectiveness of integrated human resource operations, including recruitment, attendance tracking, and payroll processing, in the IT industry. It further examined employees’ perceptions of the efficiency of recruitment, attendance tracking, and payroll processes as well as the overall effectiveness of these processes in workforce management. The study adopted a descriptive research design and involved 100 employees and interns selected from different IT companies. The data were collected using a questionnaire, which was administered manually. The tool was validated by using a five-point Likert scale, and the results were analysed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Both descriptive and inferential statistics, including Chi-square tests, Independent Sample t-tests, and One-way Analysis of Variance, were used to analyse the data collected. The study found that employees generally have positive perceptions towards recruitment, attendance tracking, and payroll processing in the IT industry. The results further revealed that integrated human resource operations could improve workforce management effectiveness by enhancing employee productivity and operational efficiency. Although the study found no significant relationship between age and employees’ perceptions of the three human resource operations, there was a significant difference in the perceptions of employees with different levels of work experience and employees of different genders. In conclusion, this study established that integrating recruitment, attendance tracking, and payroll processing would improve workforce management and organizational effectiveness in the IT industry. The findings were discussed in detail in the later sections of the paper.
