Subject area: Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities · Area of research: Library and Information Science
Abstract
This study examined the relationship between information literacy skills and entrepreneurship development among undergraduate students at the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted, involving 250 undergraduate students. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation, and regression analysis. The findings indicated high levels of information literacy (Grand Mean = 3.82) and entrepreneurship development (Grand Mean = 3.77). A significant positive relationship was found between information literacy and entrepreneurship development (r = 0.684, p < 0.05). Regression analysis further revealed that information literacy significantly predicted entrepreneurship development (β = 0.638, R² = 0.466, p < 0.05). Inadequate ICT facilities and limited access to relevant resources were identified as major challenges. The study concludes that strengthening information literacy education and improving access to digital resources are essential for enhancing entrepreneurial competencies among university students.
