Microsoft Power BI for Data Analytics and Visualization
Subject area: Science,Engineering and Technology · Area of research: Data Analytics and Visualization
Abstract
Organizations generate large volumes of information through sales, operations, finance, and customer interactions. Converting these records into useful insights requires efficient data preparation, analysis, and visualization. Microsoft Power BI is a business intelligence platform that connects to multiple data sources, transforms data with Power Query, models relationships, and creates interactive reports and dashboards. This paper presents a research-oriented framework for applying Power BI to data analytics and visualization. The proposed workflow covers data collection, cleaning, modelling, DAX calculations, report development, publication, and controlled sharing. It also discusses usability, data refresh, governance, and performance evaluation. Rather than claiming experiments that have not been conducted, this paper outlines a reproducible evaluation plan based on data accuracy, refresh duration, report responsiveness, and user comprehension. The framework can support informed decision-making in business, education, healthcare, and public administration.
