The rapid expansion of digital infrastructure and consumer-oriented markets has transformed personal information into an economic resource. This article critically examines how data leakage, aggressive consumerism, and debt-driven economic structures interact to influence individual privacy, financial stability, and mental well-being in contemporary society. The study argues that unauthorized circulation of personal information contributes to targeted marketing practices that intensify consumer desires and normalize debt dependency through credit systems and EMI-based lifestyles. The paper further discusses the legal, ethical, and human-rights dimensions of personal data protection in India and highlights the necessity for stronger regulatory frameworks and public awareness.
