Aero Derivative Gas Turbine Preliminary Design – In line with the Nigerian Industrialization Project

Abstract

The Nigerian industrialization effort is highly desirable and would be more demanding in the nearest future. The only route to joining the league of developed nation is industrialization. There is the need to design and manufacture industrial equipment and accessories for both local and international application. The identified equipment is aero derivative gas turbine. It is an offshoot of aero engine, aircraft prime mover. The equipment is made up of compressor, combustor and the turbine (High pressure and free power turbines). It is applied in land and marine operations for power generation, gas compression and ship propulsion. The reference technology is LM2500 plus G5 for power generation. The study was premised on preliminary design. Aero derivative gas turbine operates on the principle of Brayton cycle. reference standard is International Standard Organization. The need for an aero derivative gas turbine was established, component parts, functional relationship and assembly methods were determined and established.
