A Review of a Constructivist Grounded Theory Methodology
Subject area: Management and Commerce · Area of research: Management Doctoral Research Methodology
Abstract
The paper offers a systematic review of applying a qualitative constructivist grounded theory methodology to demonstrate the processes and procedures in conducting a doctoral thesis focusing on the leadership and sustainability of faith-based organizations in Kenya. A constructivist philosophical awareness and paradigmatic approaches underpin the outline of the research design. The study argues that a constructivist grounded theory methodology has the potential for unearthing meanings that go beyond the spoken words, leading to an insightful subjective view of reality. Therefore, the methodology is appropriate for a management doctoral thesis. However, the process could be more demanding and insightful and requires adequate planning and commitment because it requires proper time management.
