Ransomware as a Service (RaaS) enables unskilled cybercriminals to deploy top-level ransomware programs through an ecosystem designed for ransomware distribution. The cybercrime business model lets developers provide ransomware kits for affiliates as a rental service which has caused both increased frequency and enhanced complexity and range of ransomware attacks. The valuable data quantity combined with inconsistent cybersecurity methods of corporate networks makes them exposed to security risks. This research investigates the development of RaaS operations as well as their propagation mechanisms and their resulting impact on business security standards. This paper provides proactive defense recommendations that combine various approaches starting from employee education and endpoint detection and moving through network boundary creation before reaching threat exchange platforms. The research conducts extensive literature analysis of RaaS threats whereas the study examines actual cases to deliver strategic recommendations for corporate defenders to protect against rising RaaS threats.
