Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) have emerged as a significant strategy for enhancing higher education in India by leveraging private sector investment, innovation, and efficiency. This paper explores the conceptual framework of PPPs, examines notable success stories such as the Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and analyzes lessons learned from these initiatives. Despite demonstrated successes, the study also identifies key challenges, including regulatory hurdles, affordability issues, and limited state capacity. Through a review of literature, case studies, and policy analysis, the paper provides a comprehensive understanding of the effectiveness of PPPs in higher education. The study concludes with policy recommendations aimed at making PPPs more inclusive, accountable, and sustainable. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers, educational leaders, and private stakeholders seeking to reform and expand India’s higher education system through collaborative models.
