Abstract

Uncoded signals has constituted unbearable interferences in communication systems. The Limited bandwidth, a scares resource does not encourage more traffic that constitute high bit error rate. The experimental based evaluation of Trellies-Coded Modulation (TCM) performance was carried to address the intereferences observed and prove high rate data communication at a very high speed while maintaining the same bandwidth. This experiment was executed using Telecommunication Instructional Manual System (TIMS). The experimental result shows a great margin of coding gain against the theoretical M-ary shift keying (4-ASK) with an appreciable bandwidth efficiency. The observation is the possibility that information transmission will increase dramatically at low power for better system performance. Furthermore, digital communication engineers have the opportunity to access different modulation for effective transmission and necessary trade-offs.
