With the evolving trend toward digital ecosystems, higher education institutions increasingly depend on online platforms, cloud infrastructure, and interconnected systems. This digital dependence, nonetheless, increases the attack surface, exposing them to threats such as phishing, ransomware attacks, data breaches, and unauthorized access to data. This research examines the character of cyber threats that affect higher learning institutions and analyzes measures taken to prevent these risks. The study utilizes a qualitative review of case studies, published reports, and institutional behavior. Findings emphasize that technical protections, user awareness, and effective institutional governance collectively contribute to cybersecurity resilience. The paper concludes with awareness training, layered defense measures, and long-term data protection policies as recommendations
