Facial aesthetics and dentistry are increasingly interconnected, as dental appearance is inseparable from overall facial harmony and exerts a profound impact on both social perception and psychological well-being. Advances in minimally invasive facial harmonization techniques, such as soft-tissue fillers and botulinum toxin, have expanded the role of dentistry beyond traditional restorative functions toward comprehensive facial care. Empirical studies demonstrate that dental aesthetics strongly influence attractiveness, self-esteem, and social desirability, while harmonization procedures can enhance these effects by integrating perioral balance with smile design. Psychological research also highlights that improvements in dental and facial aesthetics can increase confidence, reduce social anxiety, and positively affect mood through mechanisms such as facial feedback. However, these benefits require ethical consideration, patient selection, and management of expectations to avoid reinforcing narrow beauty standards or generating unrealistic outcomes. This article discusses the interrelation of dentistry and facial aesthetics, emphasizing the psychosocial and cultural dimensions of harmonization procedures and their implications for clinical practice and patient well-being.
